Veteran Remembers his Oath Still Stands

In 1974 I took an Oath. You know the one, - "defend against ... enemies foreign and domestic..." .

After I completed "my time", I thought that was the end of it. It was years later that I had an epiphany - You know, an OMG moment. For some reason, I guess maybe I was thinking about the Gulf War - and wishing I was still young enough to serve - I realized that the Oath I took was still valid!

When I promised that promise, it did not end with "until January 14, 1980", it ended with So help me God - at least in my heart, it did. I am STILL bound by that promise! What a wonderful feeling to know that I still have the God Given right to defend my Country! When She calls, I will answer. I'm older now, but I'm still listening...

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined."
-Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, 5 June 1778

When we took the oath, we made a covenant with our Constitution! That covenant does not end when our military contract is over. It is never over...it never ends. Lets continue to fight the fight for ourselves, our children and for their children.
