The Oath Keepers Declaration of Orders We WILL Not Obey has caused a fire-storm of interest in this effort. (click the highlighted text above to read the full declaration with detailed explanation). The major online news site, World Net Daily, now has a special feature article on Oath Keepers.

Testimonial of Desert Storm Airborne Combat Veteran

82nd. The "All Americans." Airborne All the Way!

It has been a number of years since I have been in uniform but I will never forget the oath that i took to defend this nation against ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC! and to UPHOLD THE AMERICAN CONSTITUTION with all it's benefits for the PEOPLE.

It is this nation that we serve under GOD and we must defend her from those who would try to abandon the dream of our founding fathers. Enough has been lost already it is now time to defend these borders and this land.
It is time to stop sacrificing our men and women for those who really do not give a damn about this nation or it's people.

I would like to say to those who wear this uniform, following orders that go against what our founding fathers believed in and were willing to die for is not American or patriotic.

Stand up against those who would use you to further their agenda and remember why you really are called AMERICAN SOLDIERS!

Testimony of a Navy Veteran















I enlisted in the United States Navy July 1973 as a three by three service and re-enlisted just after two and half years with a total of 6 years and 7 months active duty.

Over the years I have been telling people throughout my walk in life that I was never released from the oath I took. In fact I believe my obligation began at a much younger age. While I attended school I pledged each day allegiance to the flag. My raising was this that we first honor God, then Country and then Family.

Right now my life is not going so good, but God is still there as he always has been, I still live in the greatest country on the planet. In fact my ancestors fought like hell to get here and my grandchildren intend on staying. Plus I have my brothers and sisters in arms that is you folks out there.

I recently went to a Glen Beck viewing party the We surrounded them viewing in that room filled with over 130 American patriots we swore that we are taking back our country. I also stand with the Gathering of Eagles and no man will ever take that away from me. I live free or die fighting to do so and I know I am not alone.

My brothers both served one Marine, one Army one is gone and one buried his son in Arlington.

You have my solemn promise that I still stand by that oath and that pledge. As things get better for me and my family we will contribute.

God Bless America and my fellow brothers and sisters in arms. Together we will teach the next generation of Oath Keepers and this great nation will be here clean and honest when God returns to set up his new Earth and new Heaven. I am an Oath Keeper by choice and will die defending that and you if need be God Bless.

Testimony of an Active Duty Navy Corpsman With Third Battalion, 14th Marines

Hello all:

I am third class Petty Officer DeVito , William L., a Navy Corpsman with the third Battalion 14th Marines. My service to my country was always based on the tradition of my father and my grandfather's, of the defense of the people of the united states, the constitution and the REPUBLIC for which it stands.

Somewhere along the way, our country has lost its values and abandoned its identity as a whole. The freedom that this country stood for is in decline, and it will take extra-ordinary men and women, to restore those ideals, and solidify them as our fore fathers did.

I am not a politician, don't really care for politics, but I do feel obligated to mention a champion of the ideals of the REPUBLIC.......Ron Paul, the Congressman from Texas. His ideals coincide with my own, which are based on the promotion and defense of the constitution.

One of the very best things we can do is support men and women with his ideals, whom truly represent and promote our best interests.

Oath keepers, and organizations like it, are great ways for us to become unified.

Unity, brotherhood, discipline in this cause, is the only way we can march toward a bright future for our children, and the survival of our ideals of freedom and equality, and the whole of the REPUBLIC.

I am a retired lieutenant colonel from the Marine Corps Reserve. While no longer in a position to receive orders that I will not obey, I fully support the oath. My loyalty was always to the Constitution, not to any individual, political party, or even the geographic area known as the United States.

I believe in fighting for, and defending the freedom that our Founding Fathers purchased for us at so great a price. I am glad to see that in these days, when I believe that our freedoms are threatened by politicians from both major political parties as never before, that many of the people the government would rely on to extinguish those freedoms are swearing an oath to never carry out orders to do so.

I fully support your efforts and if push should ever come to shove, would stand shoulder to shoulder with you to defend the principles that our country was founded upon.

Oath Keeper Testimonial by LRRP Vietnam Vet and Peace Officer


I made this pledge at the young age of 17 called early entry into the Army in 1967.

"I solumly pledge to protect and defend the Consitution of the United States of America form all enemies both foreign and domestic, so help me God"!
My oath hasn't changed nor will it until the day I die! I served two tours in Viet Nam in a LRRP provisional at Phu Bai and continuted to serve for seven more years as a CID investigator with several TDY tours back to the big Green.

I then served as a civilian police officer for several jurisdictions to total 27 years in law enforcement. I continue to serve in any way shape or form to promote 2nd Amendment Rights.

As an active duty soldier, I would like to stay anonymous. But I want you guys to know I‘m with you 100% and so are a lot of my fellow soldiers. These kinds of discussions go on between us often and we all know that we did not swear an oath to any politician (of either party).


And just for the record not me or anyone else in my platoon would ever follow an order to disarm the American people.

Principles of Our Republic Oath Keepers Are Sworn to Defend

As defenders of the Republic and guardians of the rights of the people, we affirm the timeless, self-evident truths set forth in our Declaration of Independence, which are at the very heart of our Republic:


1. All men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights. People are born with natural rights that come from nature and nature’s God, not from government.


2. To secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men. Rights come first, and then comes government, not the other way around. Government is merely the creation of the people. The only legitimate purpose of government is to protect our rights.


3. Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed. Governments have no inherent or intrinsic powers – only those granted by the people. When governments claim powers never granted, such government is illegitimate.


4. Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government. When the government violates the people’s rights, it violates its only legitimate purpose and voids the compact by which the people created that government. The people retain the right to decide when that has happened, and retain the right to throw off such oppressive government, just as our forefathers did in the American Revolution.


5. Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes. And that is why the American people have continued to try and work within the system despite a relentless, sustained assault on their rights.


6. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism …. Among the abuses and usurpations were:

[the national government] “declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever,” erecting “a multitude of New Offices,” and sending “swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance”; Denial of jury trial, with trial instead by admiralty courts (military tribunals); warrantless searches (the writs of assistance); confiscation of property; Imposition of martial law – the suspension of legislatures and the appointment of a general to rule the people, rendering “the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.”


The final spark of Revolution was an attempt to disarm the people

during martial law, which was an act of war against the people.


The parallels to our time are obvious and ominous.


7. … it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government. Again, the people themselves will determine when that point has been reached. We cannot expect the national government’s own courts to approve of that decision by the people. Every dictator throughout history, be it Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, or Pinochet, twisted and perverted the law and the courts into a weapon against the people. In our own history, every oppressive act of Parliament and the King in the years leading up to the Revolution were upheld by the English courts. But that was not the end of the argument. The same is true today.


After the Revolution, those principles were again affirmed and made part of our Constitution by the adoption of the Bill of Rights.


When you read the Bill of Rights, remember that each and every one of those amendments was in response to the Founding Generation’s experience with government tyranny, and were intended to prevent such tyranny from happening again. The Bill of Rights thus tracks nearly exactly the causes of Revolution listed in the Declaration of Independence.


In particular, pay close attention to the Ninth and Tenth Amendments, which affirm the the natural rights and sovereignty of the people, and which provide a guide to constitutional interpretation, as I will further explain in an upcoming post.


Each of you must remind yourself of those hard learned lessons, renew your understanding of the principles of American liberty, and how those principles are reflected in the Constitution and Bill of Rights you swore an oath to defend.


And then you must search your soul and arrive at your own personal line in the sand.

Oath Keeper Testimonial of Army Vet and Career Peace Officer, Dave Freeman

Dave Freeman said:
Oath Keepers is not militia movement, per se, it’s a declaration of dedication to support and defend the supreme law of our land: the U.S. Constitution from all enemies both foreign and domestic. It’s a group of patriotic men and women seeking to remind fellow citizens of their profound obligations to God and country.

A fellow trusted friend, a genuine patriot, an Oath Keeper, asked me to describe or define what my sworn oath mean to me and I told him: “Any oath [or vow] that I have ever taken is a “Blood Oath” and it’s irrevocable.” It coincides with the Devine admonition: “Defend the truth, even unto death.” The signers of the Declaration of Independence pledged: “Their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor;” can we do any less?


My combined public service as a U.S. Army soldier; Deputy Sheriff; Police Sergeant and Special Deputy Marshal Court Services Officer totals 38 plus years. The oaths I swore during the commission of these offices all had these profound words in common: “…I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic…so help me God!


Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s:

There was no confusion by the Centurion [In the book of Luke] about his duty to the lawful authority of the state government and his faithful acknowledgement of God’s supreme authority.
Romans Chapter 13: 3 – “Rulers are not a cause of fear to good conduct, but to evil. Do you wish to have no fear of authority? Then do what is good and you will receive approval from it. For it is a servant of God for your good. But if you do evil, be afraid, for it does not bear the sword without purpose; it is the servant of God to inflict wrath on the evildoer.”

Just like the Centurion, I am subject to authority and God’s authority reigns supreme. Through prayer, we are granted discernment to determine between righteousness and sin. Next to salvation, free will is the second greatest gift bestowed man. Throughout human history, there are countless examples of sinful and evil regimes and my mind can’t conceive that God endorsed any of them. To my recollection they were all judged for their sins and met their demise.


Psalm Chapter 27: “The Lord is my light and my salvation, of whom should I be afraid?” Anyone that would tell you lies or seek to intimidate you is not God’s servant. Be vigilant; be on your guard, because they are “Legion” and bat for the other team!


As a Deputy Sheriff/Police Officer I suggested to the Under Sheriff that we adopt the following motto and emblazon it on all our police vehicles: “Pledged to a Sacred Oath” I wanted the citizens that we served to be assured that we were men and women of honor pledged to protect them and the constitution from all enemies both foreign and domestic. Disappointingly, the hierarchy replied that we all ready had a motto [the generic] “To protect and serve.”


Many years ago, I stood in awe at the foot of the “Minuteman” statue at Concord Bridge, Massachusetts. I must tell you it was a soulful experience. Make it a point to go there and stand in the presence of that memorial and reflect on the brave souls that stopped tyranny on that fateful day: April 19, 1775. These patriots rallied to the wisdom of Samuel Adams when he said:

It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”

Testimonial From a Navy Veteran's Widow

Here is the testimonial a Navy vet's widow just sent in, on behalf of her late husband:

I'm the widow of a navy veteran. He served in Korea and Viet Nam aboard air craft carriers. He loved America, but came home with a dark hate for the oath breakers of the US government that shadowed the rest of his life. He was a very active life member of the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, and other civic organizations. He would have been proud to join the Oath Keepers, as he did keep that oath all his life. He died in 1986.

You might want to include widows and spouses in your invitation. Many of us are also ready to fight for liberty and honor the oaths our loved ones lived by.

As for me, my oath is the zero aggression principle. I am a retired RN and an NRA certified instructor for handguns and self defense. I especially reach out to women so they may overcome their conditioning and fears and be able to defend themselves and their children.

I am also armed at all times. I carry a gun openly everywhere I go, and work to educate anyone who asks about it. Not sure if that fits what you're trying to do, but it's my way of fighting for liberty and justice each and every day.

If the worst comes to worst, I'm too old to be on the front line, but I'll be back in camp helping to patch up those who fall. And, if God is willing, I'll be working to rebuild America when the smoke clears.

An Introduction to Oath Keepers

Oath Keepers is an association of currently serving military, veterans, and peace officers who swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic ... and meant it.

The principle mission of Oath Keepers is to prevent the destruction of American liberty by preventing a full-blown totalitarian dictatorship from coming to power. Our Motto is “Not on our watch!”

I have been thinking of starting an organization such as this for several years now, but it never seemed to be the right time. However, I have recently had some very sobering conversations with brother veterans, active duty soldiers, retired and active duty police, and other committed and knowledgeable patriots. Because of those conversations, and in light of some very disturbing recent events, I am now convinced the right time is here – in fact, I am convinced it is now or never.

There are very dark days ahead for our Republic, and the greatest threats to our liberty do not come from without, but from within, “from men of great zeal, but little understanding,” from both political parties, who, to get at the devil of the moment, gleefully tear down the Constitution’s barriers against unbridled government power. The past eight years has been an expose of such short-sighted foolishness as self-described "conservatives" conserved nothing while expanding the de facto power of the Executive branch to obscene and absurd levels. Those powers are now in the hands of President Barrack Obama, who shows no signs of being reluctant to use them to impose his own special "vision" for our nation.


Worse yet, there are those among the political, legal, and even among the banking elite (?!!) who know exactly what they are doing, and yet willfully contrive to destroy our Republic and to disarm and enslave the American people. Our Republic has been under relentless assault from such domestic enemies for decades. We expect them to take full advantage of any upheaval and civil unrest during the coming economic/political “perfect storm” to try and put the final nail in the coffin of our Republic.

We aim to stop them dead in their tracks.

We know that if it comes to a worst case scenario, the American people will fight them. Americans are not Russian or Chinese peasants. Americans have a legacy, a heritage, of fighting back against tyranny and oppression and beating the best any tyrant can throw at them. The American people will not go down without a fight, and our would-be slave masters are greatly underestimating the resolve and military capability of the people. There are literally millions of American veterans, many of them with combat experience, who know very well what they are about, and who will fight with a ferocity that will stun their effeminate self-styled overlords.

But we also know that “It” (a full-blown totalitarian police state) simply cannot happen here if the majority of military service members and police obey their oaths to defend the Constitution and refuse to enforce the unconstitutional edicts of the "Leader."


The Oath Keeper Focus of Effort

And that is where Oath Keepers comes in. As time runs out, and as the window of opportunity closes on any hoped-for purely political restoration of liberty in America, we have determined that our best “focus of effort” – where we can have the greatest impact – is by maximizing the number of active duty military, reserves, and national guard who will fulfill their oaths by not following unconstitutional, immoral orders. And that also goes for the police, many of whom are also veterans.


We cannot imagine a more productive use of our time or anything that we could be doing that has the potential to literally alter history quite like this effort.


We already know for a fact that many of our brothers in arms will not “just follow orders.” And we also know, from personal service and experience, that the closer toward the “tip of the spear” you go, among the hard-core and elite combat units such as Marines, airborne soldiers, Rangers, Special Forces, etc., the greater percentage of men you will find who are true believers in the best sense of the word. They are men who take their oaths most seriously and are very much aware that they are the guardians of the Republic. They are also men who have come to terms with their own mortality and have made peace with the big picture fact that none of us gets out of here alive – what counts is what we do while we are here. We all served among such men of great integrity, character, courage, honor, and devotion to liberty and we have no doubt where they will stand on The Day. And what is more, they have a combat capability that goes far, far beyond their numbers. They are force multipliers extraordinaire.


But God forbid it should ever come to a fight. The very last thing any of us ever wants to see in our lifetime is veteran being pitted against active duty, or soldier against soldier, while the craven cowards at the top sit safely in some soft, cushy bunker.


It is our fondest hope that we will reach so many active duty, reserves and guardsmen, reminding them of their oaths and what they swore to defend, that the usurping cabal of lying politicians have no hope of success and we can have a bloodless turning of the tide and a bloodless restoration.

But while we hope for the best, we are also prepared for the worst.
Whatever the outcome, our oaths will be fulfilled.

If you swore the oath, whether you are current military, reserves, national guard, a veteran, or a peace officer (or even a lawyer! – so long as you really meant your oath), write your own testimonial statement as an Oath Keeper and either post it in the comments section or email it in to oathkeepersok@gmail.com.

There will likely be one post per day entitled Oath Keeper Honor Roll where you can submit your testimonial in the comments section for that post. If for any reason you don’t see such a post on a given day, please look for the last “Honor Roll” post. If all else fails, just post it as a comment to any post you happen to be on. We will then move your testimonial to the most recent honor roll post. Ideally, we want to present page after page of testimonials. If you want to send in a photo to go with the post, email us.

Submit a Video Testimonial

You can also send in a video testimonial. Oath Keepers will have a youtube.com page up and running shortly, and we will post any submitted videos to that page. Until we get everything set up, if you want to submit a video, email us to work out the logistics.

It is your choice. We fully understand that more veterans will be willing to put a name or a face to their testimonial, while most currently serving active duty, reserves, and guardsmen will want to remain anonymous. It is a sad statement of where we are as a nation that service members who merely affirm their devotion to liberty and their oaths to defend the Constitution have to be concerned about possible persecution detrimental to their military careers, but that is the reality.

But such anonymity is a plus since it helps to plant the seeds of doubt in the mind of anyone in our government who has immoral and unconstitutional intentions. We at once want “them” to know there are a lot of us, but also to not know exactly where we are within the military or our full numbers. Uncertainty and the fear of the unknown can be great force multipliers of their own.

Suggestions for making a statement

I will be posting my own written statement over the next couple of days, as well as that of several other veterans, and I will also post my own video statement which you can use as models for your own, if you like.

Please refrain from making statements that could be construed as overt, specific threats of violence or exhortations to commit specific acts of violence. Simply stating that you will not obey, you will not comply, you will not submit, and you will resist any and all unconstitutional and immoral orders and actions is enough.

You don’t need to go into details. “They” will certainly get the message. And remember, our political enemies will take every opportunity to paint Oath Keepers as an extremist organization and to marginalize us in the eyes of the public. We have some creative PR guerrilla warfare in mind to counter those smear attempts, but you can help by keeping in mind our mission to reach the broadest cross section of active military, police, and veterans.

Other than that, the only real guidelines are to keep it short (two to three pages, or under five minutes, unless you have an amazingly compelling story), to the point, and heart-felt.

Calling All Combat Veterans

Our long-term goal is to have some very powerful, persuasive video testimonies by combat veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, on up to today which we can use to reach more active duty and veterans. If you know of any such men, who are for real and who are willing to step up and make such powerful video testimonies, please email us.

Such video testimonies by combat vets have an immense moral force and will do more to win the hearts and minds of others who took the oath than all the blog posts and books that have ever been written put together. Such video efforts will be seen by many thousands or even hundreds of thousands and millions on youtube.

The more people who see the Oath Keeper message, the more active duty and veterans will be reached, and the more committed oath keepers we will have who will be willing to stand firm, and the better the ultimate chance of saving our Republic. To the utmost extent of our power"

This site is dedicated to the memory of John William Adams (1925-2006), Oath Keeper extraordinaire.


After the Imperial Japanese Navy attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, John Adams, then age 16, lied about his age to join the Marines so he could fight those who had dared attack his country. His enlistment date was December 10, 1941, just three days after the attack on Pearl Harbor (see below). As a Marine rifleman, he fought the Japanese from island to island, across the pacific, including at Iwo Jima. We may have good men, but we never had better.

Date of enlistment: December 10, 1941. Now that's what you call stepping up! - but he was not alone. And neither are you.

John Adams was my father-in-law. Once my young son, always full of questions, asked his Grandpa John "how many Japanese soldiers did you see go still in your [rifle] sights, Grandpa?" (yes, my son talks like that) Grandpa John, who usually was not at a loss for words, and never passed up an invitation to launch into a good story, just looked away for a moment, in a thousand yard stare, and then looking down at his grandson simply said "too many."

Until his death in 2006, he was a dedicated patriot who still took his oath to defend the Republic deadly serious.

May God grant you the courage to do likewise.
