I must say, when I took my oath, I knew that oath was a lifetime commitment. That oath is as important as the Constitution itself. Without good men and women to defend it, it would certainly have been destroyed by now.
My family history in this country reaches back to the very first days of its inception, around 1630. I had numerous relatives that fought in the American Revolution, and every major war since. My 8th and 9th Great Grandfathers were NJ Militia and fought the British at the Battle of Springfield, NJ (June 1780). Timothy Meeker was 70 years old when he 'had enough'. One has to ponder his mind set and ask, what would make a man that old, so blasted angry to pick up a musket and fight against the world's most powerful army?
That man contributed 9 sons that fought in the Revolution. They were Continental Army, a Connecticut Marine, numerous Militia, and a Spy that later helped establish West Point. Needless to say, I have a 'dog in this fight' and I'll be damned if I will let anyone squander or destroy what they AND my fellow American Patriots have worked so hard to build.
To every Veteran, past, present, and future.... count me in.

Truly Freedom is the answer.
While I am not related to him in way [that I know of ...] My favorite personality of the American Revolution was Hezekiah Wyman.
He was known by the King's Regulars [the Redcoats or lobsterbacks] as the man they called "Death on a Pale Horse". He also took up arms at an advanced age. [55 Yrs] In the 1770's that was an advanced age.

In this day and age I am hopeful a showing of the hands will be sufficient but I fear it may be past that point already.
